Becoming an Inspired Entrepreneur

I have been a lurker on Nick and Niki's lists for a while having met Nick some time ago at a workshop he gave in Salisbury in Wiltshire.

Having been a business mentor for the Princes Trust and an Adviser for the local business community up here on Anglesey I don't need any persuasion to appreicate the value of finding your passion in your work. I have seen too many businesses struggle and sometimes fail where that passion has been lacking.

Whilst I talk to others about the 'work they were born to do' I have been very guilty of not walking the talk for myself. Allowing myself to get bogged down in doing what needed to be done instead.

Now entering the second half of my life, the time has come to change that.

I don't believe that retirement will exist, even for someone of my mature years, so it seems to me that it's time to get my own house in order - and find the work I was born to do.

I am looking forward to the process of exploration and the results.

Hi Dee -- I agree with you about retirement not existing for many people in their mature years. I'm certainly an example of that. The only caveat I have to that is this -- If you become "quite" mature, it gets more and more difficult to pursue your entrepreneurial inspiration(s).

So, my respectful advice is -- don't put it off too long. Get with it while the energy levels are still high.

Peace ...

The entrepreneur has to maximise his/her personal power at any stage of their life

According to Lyle Spencer, of McBer. ''The entrepreneur needs to be a savvy politician, a charismatic speaker, an inspiring coach, a bit of a technical expert, and an efficient administrator"

But almost no one embodies all these. . The trick,is to build a team, to recruit other people who can offer the skills you lack, and to keep you focused on the wider picture

It is the entrepreneur on the team who inspires the others with his vison and drive.
