Q: How do I invite friends?
Begin by signing in to your account, then navigate to the profile page of the person you'd like to invite (this can be done by clicking on their name, wherever it appears on the site, or by searching for a member as described below)...
... then click the "Add to Friends" link (the other person will need to accept the request before they'll appear as your friend). When someone becomes your friend, you'll automatically start seeing their activity within the community on your homepage. P.s. you're automatically friends with Nick and myself when you join.
Q: How do I view / accept friendship invitations?
Begin by signing in to your account...
... and click "View all friends and invitations"...
... click on "Requests to Review"...
... then "Accept" or "Reject" your friendship requests accordingly.
Q: How do I search for members?
To search for a members by name, go to the members directory, and use the search function...
- ... if you know the exact full name of the person you're looking for, type it into the search box and click the "Search" button e.g. "Niki Hignett" - brings up my profile. .
- ... if you only know the first name, you can search using a "wildcard" after the name - e.g. "Niki*" - brings up my profile.
- ... if you only know the last name, you can search using a "wildcard" before the name - e.g. "*Hignett" - brings up my profile.
Q: How do I start a private conversation with another member?
Conversations are conducted rather like a private forum between you and another person...
... begin by signing in to your account, then navigate to the profile page of the person you'd like to start a conversation with (this can be done by clicking on their name, wherever it appears on
the site, or by searching for a member as described above)...
... then click "Start a Conversation"...
... write your subject and message, then click "Start conversation", and you're done.
Q: How do I e-mail another member within the site?
Follow the directions above, but click "Send an Email" instead -
... you can also do all of the above from within the forums, by clicking the "Contact" link above a member's post...
... if you can't see these links, then you're probably not signed in properly.
Q: How do I post announcements?
To add an announcement that will appear on the activity feed for the site and on the activity feeds of your friends, begin by signing in to your account, and then click the "Add Announcement" link...
... then write the subject and content of your announcement...
... click "Publish" and you're done.
