Is this situation known to somebody

    Hello Nick,

listening to different talks / interviews I am aware that anybody seems to get to a point of doubt and resistance. In my case this point seems to be around responsibility for my family. I tend to think that I would not hesitate a minute to become completely self employed if there were nobody else than myself which I had to care for. In fact my children are already grown up (Julia 25 has her own job since three years, Johanna 22 has one more year at University) and my wife, even so she has an important task taking care of all the elders in our family, has no own income. There's still a mortgage on the house and there need things to be bought for the daily life - food, clothes and so on.

Do you know other people that have done the jump into the cold water in a similar situation? What kind of resistance did they overcome and how? How would you try to tackle mine?

Looking forward to your answer or to experience of anybody else who is / has been in a similar situation.

    Martin

    Hi Martin

I think you have your own answer - you know in your heart what you want - to be self employed. I'd suggest your question be more around, "How do I become succesfully self employed so that I can continue my family?" You can be responsible to your family and be responsible to your own heart and passion - they are not mutually exclusive. But we suggest you build up the new so you can transition into it.

But also resistance is likely to kick in the closer you get to making decisions and changing direction. That's normal. Again, you can keep ploughing forward in the face of your resistance. But there is nothing wrong with you.

    Hope that might help

Re: Is this situation known to somebody

You can transition slowly - start to look at how much money you need to survive. Make cutbacks and save some each month to help your financial cushion.

Build up what you do out of your job to start to make some money or build up the skills and contacts you will need. See if you can reduce your hours and build your biz/ passion up while still working less at your 'job'. Lots of companies are open to 'flexible working'

Write down where you want to be in 12 months time and take daily steps to make sure you get there. Write everything down and plan, take action and reward yourself for everything scary you have done. A coach can help you too!

    Have fun!

Re: Is this situation known to somebody

    Hi Angela,

thanks for your interest. I am progressing slowly but steadily. I started on a part time self employment this month (1 day a week).
I have first done some ground work, e.g. marketing concept - what is my USP, and want to start working on my web page soon.
I think in a few weeks time I will be able to introduce it to you all.

Parallel I did intensify some cooperation talks - one last Friday which looks really good. It should produce income in a few month time too.

Thirdly I have already agreed cooperation with my brother (http://www.stephan-reichenbach.de/) and we will have a first training that we do together in July - see (http://www.osterberginstitut.de/Seminare/2009/07/9126.php)

I also did a little bit of coaching in the last few month parallel to my full time employment and am quite positive that I can intensify this now.

So I think I will be able to grow this step by step and at some point I will have to decide to do the jump - and be completely self employed.

Na, Martin – die Lösung hab’ ich gerade auf Deine Website gelesen!

    Hi Martin,

I too have just joined & am catching up with the posts. I am so pleased things are going well for you & you have had lots of good suggestions here on the forum.

If I can add something that really helped me to transition it was to remember to always use an 'inner' as well as an outer process for change. By this I mean for example allowing yourself to consciously daydream every day with clear intention about your success as if it had already happened. See everyone happy & thriving. See/feel/hear yourself successful, how do you feel? Stand? Sound? How do your family feel? What is an ideal working day like for you? Really climb into the picture & feel it. I call this my 'Sensualisation' Process & I use it with clients too with great success. Noone can take away your imagination & it is the most powerful creative tool at your disposal!

I wish you happiness & abundance.

    Blessings,

    Kimberley

    Hallo Cherry,

    Hi Kimberley,

thanks for your attention and advice. The process you describe is a very powerful I agree. And I keep forgetting. Thank you for reminding me.

The answer to the question "What is an ideal working day like for you? " is:

    - working where I like to be and in the timing that is suited for me

    - having a intensive talk to somebody that I can help with something, e.g. a decision

    - spending quality leisure time with my wife

    - doing some more work in the evening, e.g. on concepts, marketing and the like

in other words a day like last Monday and I am now eager to have more of them more often

    Thanks Nick,

my plan is to have an English version in the medium term (year end) as well.

The main saying at the top of the page (eye catcher) means:

Get to know yourself (translation of the greek "gnothi se auton", which was written at the entrance of the temple in Delphi - before you entered the oracle)

    The explanation below means:

The people around you are like mirrors

They reflect your attitude - sometimes unfiltered

If you look into it, you may get to know yourself better

    --------------------------------------------------------------------

If you come to Germany, please let me know in advance.

If there is a chance, maybe we can use the opportunity to meet.

    Hallo Martin!

    Alles Gute!

    Hello Cherry,

the contents of my website was designed by myself, but the site was developped by a young professional
    see www.webtainement.com

The pictures were alle taken by myself. The rock lion is at a place called "TrommW which is a real nice place.

The contents of the site will be amended from time to time. I can do this myself using Joomla - a free content management system. And I will remember your comment about inviting people to find outr more or contact me.

I think that your german is still pretty good - especially if you hadn't used it for long.

    Regards Martin
