Hi Joolz,
Glad you got he MP3s sorted :o)
It's a tough one. I'm edging toward the
.biz domain, but only because you said it was "great".
You have to balance -
-
If the .biz name has important
keywords in it, that could be of SEO benefit to you.
-
.com names tend to be considered
"the default", so if you have the .biz version and someone else has
the .com version of a domain, I can't help thinking that you'd
always be sending some of your traffic to your dot.com neighbour.
You might also get people linking to the .com domain by accident, I've made this mistake myself in the past, and I've had to apologise and correct the link.
-
There is a school of thought that
says .biz domains tend to trigger the part of the brain that says
"this is purely commercial let's avoid linking to it", but I'm
not convinced it makes a massive difference.
- As I mentioned, if the .co.uk variation is also available, it might help from an SEO point of view.
... my feeling is that if the .biz or
.net domains have great keywords, and the .com doesn't, go with the
.biz or .net. Or maybe keep looking for more options. But, all in
all, remember that your domain name is not going to be a major
determinant of your success, I wouldn't worry tooooo much about it. Not having the perfect domain name is
not going to hold your business back, certainly not in the early
days, and there are ways of safely switching domain (without loosing
SEO value) down the line.
One other thought, why not buy them
both and run a poll amongst your friends and clients? You could even
start a poll on this site....
Hope this helps,
Niki
